Terms of service

The service

Origami reads a company's public website and turns it into an app that AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Claude can use to answer buyers' questions, show plans, calculate quotes and link to a trial or demo. Origami is in early access: features may change, and we may limit or pause access while we improve it.

Your website and content

Only build an app from a website you own or are authorised to represent. You keep all rights to your content. You give us permission to read, store and process it to build and run your app, and to show it to people who use your app through an AI assistant.

Your app answers from what your website says. You're responsible for that content being accurate and lawful, including prices, product claims and any regulated information. If your site changes, rebuild your app so it reflects the latest version.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• build an app that impersonates another company or misleads buyers;
• use Origami to read sites you aren't authorised to represent, or to get around a site's access controls;
• overload, probe or disrupt the service, or try to reach data that isn't yours;
• use Origami for anything unlawful, or in breach of the terms of the AI assistants your app runs in.

We may suspend an app that breaks these rules, and will tell you why when we can.

AI assistants

Your app runs inside AI assistants that other companies operate, such as OpenAI's ChatGPT and Anthropic's Claude. Those companies decide how their assistants present apps and whether to show yours, and their own terms apply. We don't control them and aren't responsible for what they do.

Answers and accuracy

Origami is designed to answer only from your published content, to cite its sources and to decline questions your site doesn't cover. AI assistants write the final reply to the buyer, so they can still phrase things in ways we don't control. Quotes are estimates based on your published pricing, not binding offers; the price that applies is the one in your own checkout or contract.

Fees

Origami is free during early access. Before we start charging, we'll publish our prices and give you notice, and nothing is charged without your agreement.

Our intellectual property

Origami's software, design and brand belong to us. We give you a limited right to use the service under these terms. If you send us feedback, we may use it without obligation to you.

Privacy

Our privacy policy explains what we collect and how we use it. If buyers use your app, you're responsible for telling them how you handle their information.

Disclaimers

Origami is provided “as is” during early access. To the extent the law allows, we don't promise the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will produce any particular commercial result. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be excluded.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Origami isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits or lost data, and our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US$100 if you haven't paid us anything.

Ending use

You can stop using Origami and delete your apps at any time. We may end or suspend access if you break these terms or if we discontinue the service, and we'll give reasonable notice where we can. Sections that by their nature should continue, such as liability limits, survive.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Origami grows. We'll change the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you by email before they take effect. Continuing to use Origami after that means you accept the new terms.
