MCP apps

Overview

Each company's Origami app is a hosted MCP server that assistants call for answers, plans and quotes.

The endpoint

Every app is published at its own URL over Streamable HTTP, the transport ChatGPT and Claude use for remote apps:

https://<your-origami-host>/mcp/<app-id>

Requests are JSON-RPC over POST, and replies come back on the same request as JSON. There is no authentication during early access.

What the server sends

  • Instructions on initialize, telling the assistant to answer only from the tools, cite the links they return, and offer a demo when something isn't covered.
  • Tools on tools/list: up to 14, depending on what the site publishes. See the tool reference.
  • A widget on resources/read, which renders plans and quotes in the chat. See Widgets and quotes.
  • Results on tools/call, as text for the model and structuredContent for the widget, with isError set when a call fails.

Sessions

The server issues an Mcp-Session-Id header on initialize. Clients send it back on later requests, which lets the guided quote remember answers across calls. DELETE with the header ends the session.

Protocol versions

2025-11-25, 2025-06-18, 2025-03-26 and 2024-11-05. The server answers with the client's version when it supports it.

Example
